I don't often report on tragic events, but I'm ashamed and sorry to say that this year I arrived at the local clam festival (Misawa Hoki Matsuri) too late to sign up for the clam schucking contest. Shown above is heat #1 which was won by a gentleman from Hatchinohe. He successfully shucked 6 clams in the allotted 1 minute. Very impressive.
